Praise God from whom all blessings flow...praise Him all creatures here below; praise Him above ye heavenly host, praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost"... is the praise echoing forth from an excited and spirit-filled group of Missionaries at Lane Tabernacle C.M.E. Church. Our Prison Ministry has been thriving under the direction of Rev. Betty Williams Hopson, and Maxine L. Day, Missionary President, as we continue to work in the Lord's vineyard ministering to those incarcerated. Rev. Hopson delivered another soul stirring message on our last visit regarding the "Fruits of the Spirit" (Galatians 5:22) Our prison ministry is moving to a higher level as we now have the ability to increase our volunteer membership. On October 8, Rev. Hopson and Sis. Day were joined by Sis. Gwen Scales, Marsha Guy, and Minnie Hall, who attended their first volunteer informational session. Other who are interested in assisting in the Third Sunday worship service are encouraged to see Rev. Hopson or Sis. Day for an application. Current plans are to schedule and orientation for our volunteers during the month of November at Lane. Our hopes are to save the lost souls, and provide hope for a new tomorrow through Christ Jesus. May 2007 Missionary Update:
Community Outreach:
Members of the Missionary Society of Lane recently spent a pre-Easter Saturday sharing “Quilts for Newborns.” Our quilting ministry has been organized by Sis. Ruby Pickett and with the sewing skill of members such as Sis. Corine Crymes, Sis. Ann Jacox, Sis. Vanessa Harris, Sis. Katie Garrison, and Sis. Pickett, we were able produce lovely quilts for newborn babies in a local shelter for unwed mothers. We were glad to visit with them and show that we care. We look forward to continuing this bridge of love through our church services and special future activities that are being planned.
God has blessed us to do marvelous things, and with His help we will continue to serve when and where needed. We are thankful for the ability to share and we invite you to join us! You are welcome to meet with us each 4th Saturday of the month (except for holiday schedules).
