A.M.E.N Ministry (Addicts Ministry Evangelistic)

The focus of this new ministry is to evangelize those persons who attend AA or NA meetings.  The idea is that the Ministry will help lead those chemically dependent to a relationship with Christ.  This ministry will provide, among other things, group interaction between persons who know and share the devastation of addiction.

Brown Bag & Jesus Ministry 

Leaders: Pastor Morris, Mary Day. This new ministry will provide sack lunches to the homeless. Special emphasis will be placed on witnessing to the homeless.

Be A Pal (Mentoring) Ministry

Leader: Barbara Graham.  This ministry is designed especially for those boys and girls who need positive role models in their lives.  The emphasis is on children of single parent homes.

C.M.E. (Care Ministry Exceptional

Leaders: Lisha Morris and Verna Bradley.  This new ministry is a branch of the Commission on Membership and Evangelism.  Its focus is on care for visitors to Lane Tabernacle.


Children’s Ministry And Youth Ministry

Leaders: Mrs. Lisha Morris, Kim Tankins

This ministry includes Children's Church, held each Sunday during the 10 A.M. worship service. Pastor Morris's heart is to train, disciple, and equip children of all ages for ministry in their daily lives. We know that God has an awesome plan and purpose for each young person to fulfill, and we intend to impact and inspire this generation with that truth. It is our privilege to give them the tools necessary to fill their world with the power, love and knowledge of God’s Holy word.C.M.E. (Care Ministry Exceptional)

Communion and Visitation Ministry

Pastor James T. Morris, all Ministerial Staff and Stewardess Designee.

C.Y.F. (Christian Youth Fellowship) 

Leader: Rebecca Rodgers. This ministry is specifically geared toward youth ages 8-17.

Drill Team 

Leader: Charlotte Day.  In this ministry the emphasis is placed on young boys and girls.  The focus is to teach scripture through step and march drills.

Grief Ministry and Recovery Ministry

The Grief and Recovery Ministry is designed to help individuals deal with the emotional suffering caused by trouble, remorse, the loss of a loved one, mental anguish and/or deep sorrow. 

Grief is not only a unique individual process, it is a long, time consuming one as well.  It is important to recognize that emotions, however uncomfortable and troubling, are normal and natural responses to grief.  You can find life beyond loss -- a changed life, but life nevertheless.

Housing Ministry

Lane Academy (Freedom School)

Leaders: Pastor Morris.  This ministry is a summer reading enrichment and cultural enhancement for children ages 5-17.

Lane Comprehensive Cancer Coalition

Our purpose is to educate the total person with the aspect of cancer. The Cancer Coalition Ministry holds public symposiums at the "Tabernacle" and in various neighborhoods across the St. Louis metro area.  Speakers  include those at the cutting edge of cancer research and treatment. The function of our ministry is carried out by special volunteer committee who work with a staff member with expertise in this area. It is anticipated that these symposiums will be self-supporting, provide visibility for the organization, and produce additional funds for other aspects of the organization's mission. 


Media Ministry

Leaders:  Anthony Miller, Jeffrey Day, Gerald Lyles and Anita Harris.  This ministry will provide audio visual and photographic coverage of all morning worship special services.  The vision is toward local media exposure of Lane Tabernacle via radio, TV and printed media.

Mentoring Ministry (One Church, One School) 

Leader: Charles Miner. This ministry enhances personal growth, development and responsibility for youths.

Mime Ministry

The interpretive mime ministry is designed to give young people an opportunity to express their spirituality through mime.

Music Ministry 

Leaders: Professor Johnny A. Barker Jr., Tobie Taylor Hudson.  The department provides opportunities for all ages to participate in the church’s music ministry.

Nursery Ministry

This Ministry allows the parents of infants and toddlers ages 6 months to 4 years to be a part of the Sunday Worship Services while their children are kept in a safe and nurturing environment. We have committed, compassionate, God-fearing teachers who minister God's love and His Word to those children ranging in age from 6 months through four years old. We have curriculum for every age group and the rooms are decorated to appeal to the children. Our kid friendly rooms have a structured environment that includes praise and worship. The classrooms open 30 minutes before all services.  

Pantry Ministry

The interpretive mime ministry is designed to give young people an opportunity to express their spirituality through mime.

Leaders: Lovie Rodgers, Audrey Jones, Harvey Scales, Jerry Hall, Lucille Harper and Williams Rodgers.   This ministry provides food to those of our community who are hungry either due to homelessness or economic need on a weekly basis.

Praise Dancers Ministry

Leader: Min. LaVelna Day.  This ministry of interpretive dance is designed to give young adults the opportunity to express their love of God through dance.

Prison Ministry 

Leaders:  Min. Betty Hopson, Maxine Day. Each third Sunday of the month, the ministry team ministers in word and song to the female inmates of the Medium Security Institution of St. Louis.

Seniors Ministry

Leaders: Pastor Morris and Gwen Scales.  This ministry is designed especially for the senior members of Lane (ages 55+).  The emphasis is on providing weekly or bi-weekly activities for the Seniors of Lane.  Such activities to include but not limited to Bible Study, Monthly Fellowship Luncheon, Aerobics, Arts & Crafts, Special Speakers, Home checkup, etc.

Sick and Shut-In Visitation Ministry

This specialized ministry does not mean the Pastor is not interested in visiting the sick.  On the contrary, it means he believes the sick should receive more than communion visits.  Subsequently, the leader and committee will be responsible for visiting in the interim, between communion visits by the Pastor.

Singles Ministry

Leaders: Pastor Morris and C. Michelle Coleman

An exciting Single Adult Ministry that is designed to enhance the lives of singles of all ages. It offers godly connections that make the single life a positive, fulfilling and self-esteem building experience through relationship opportunities and social interaction.

Summer Camp Ministry

Substance Abuse Ministry

Transportation Ministry - This ministry exists to provide transportation to worship services and other special activities of the church. It also provides transportation to events out of the city.

Young Adult Ministry

This new ministry is borne out of the need for young adults to see the church as an adequate avenue not only for spirituality but for fellowship and personal growth and development.
